Steve Baker Blaze Media and Independent Investigative Journalist |
Steve Baker is an independent journalist whose commitment to uncovering the truth took him to Washington, D.C., on January 5 and 6, 2021, to document the various rallies held during those pivotal days. As one of more than 60 journalists and photographers present at the Capitol on January 6, Baker followed the unfolding events into the building, capturing powerful footage of what he witnessed. Recognizing the importance of transparency, he voluntarily provided his recordings to the FBI.
On March 1, 2021, Baker’s journey as a journalist took an extraordinary turn when he was arrested by FBI agents. Treated with the severity often reserved for high-profile cases, he was handcuffed, placed in leg irons, and transported by armed agents to face charges that were initially withheld by the Justice Department. The charges—four federal misdemeanors—stemmed from his presence at the Capitol that day, despite Baker being there in his capacity as a journalist, albeit without formal press credentials.
Steve Baker's story is a testament to the complexities of journalistic freedom and the challenges of documenting history as it unfolds. His experiences offer a unique perspective on the balance between truth, justice, and the role of independent media in modern America.
