Stop The Presses

STOP THE PRESSES

“The Right always want to band books, to stop people from finding the truth!”  Does that sound familiar?  Somehow the narrative goes like this: “Conservatives of the United States are looking under every rock to ban the terrible books that those who oppose them to keep them off the bookshelves in libraries.  The days of McCarthyism never stopped in our country.  There are Communists everywhere.”  Due to this we must oppose the Right's intrusion in banning great books, for those that need the content of these books.

Let's take a look at some of the books that say Moms for Liberty want to stop from being made available in the shelves of Public Schools.  Three books ("George" by Alex Gino, "Gender Queer" by Maia Kobabe, "Lawn Boy" by Jonathan Evison) are the books that NC Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson's got raked over the coals by TV Stations like WRAL-TV a year ago.  Which have been available to be checked out in libraries in North Carolina schools.

The Left would have you believe that only Republicans want to ban books.  They accuse us, the Right, of wanting to censor LGBTQ++, Critical Race Theory, the history of racism and slavery in America, and eliminating black voices.  Yes we will stand against controversial subjects, vulgarity, violence and sexual and gender content that are being made available in bookshelves in our Pubic School Libraries that should be stopped.  Content that is not fit for that classroom.  How do I know?  Because WRAL-TV and others cannot even put the pictures in some of these books on their TV news.  That's Community Standard at work.  If WRAL-TV would put it on, then they would jeopardize their FCC license. You go and look up the books, “Gender Queer,” and “The Lawn Boy.”  Find out for yourself what the American Library Associations thinks is appropriate.  They are too woke to to see why they are wrong.

The Left bans books in a different way.  They rewrite books.  Books characters are totally rewritten from the original.  The Publishers are Woke as well.  If it's offensive, they change the book and republish, and re-release it.  When book offends them, since they are woke, with rewrite with woke in mind.  Books like, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” James Bond's “Casino Royale.”  Publishers hire sensitivity readers to review the books.  The London Telegraph in a story said that new versions of books would feature a disclaimer: "This book was written at a time when terms and attitudes which might be considered offensive by modern readers were commonplace.  A number of updates have been made in this edition while keeping as close as possible to the original text and the period in which it is set."

Our own Orange County NC Schools have been challenged.  The OCS School Board in past meetings have said they do not believe in Banning Books.  Their solution was to put controversial books behind the desk, and be requested as the answer.  But a few months before, they also banned books like, “The Indian and the Cupboard.”  You can't have it both ways.

We want books that teach kids, but do not have pornography, rape, incest, pedophilia, explicit sexual content, and are age appropriate for High School down to Pre-K.  We wonder why our children are not doing well on there Standardized Test, part of it falls on the Woke content being taught in our Schools, when they need to be teaching the basics of the Standard Course of Study.
